Below is Rule 32 of the Minnesota Rules of Criminal Procedure. Rule 32 deals with Motions.

Requests to the court for an order must be by motion. A motion other than one made during a trial or hearing must be in writing, unless the court or these rules permit it to be made orally. The motion must state the grounds on which it is made and must set forth the relief or order sought. A motion may be supported by affidavit.
